Marvellous Radio with Jobby!

Marvellous Radio with Jobby!

by Jobby I used to have my own radio show on local radio when I lived up in Northumberland. I was there for about 4 years and loved every minute of it! Since moving ‘down South’, I haven’t managed to get back into doing radio shows – and I miss it! I did have the opportunity to work with hospital radio in Reading, but wasn’t able to get hours that would accommodate the job I do now. So.. I decided to start my own radio station! Why not. A station that demonstrates the sort of music that I play as a mobile disco DJ, as well as taking the requests from the listener. Rather than using spotify or searching YouTube for music, just pop on my radio station – whenever I am on air – and I will play great stuff that you will like, and you can request anything else using the ‘shout’ system on the radio page. I will be on air at 10pm most nights – but see the ‘blog’ page within the radio site to get full details on the next scheduled time. To listen, go to www.marvellousdisco.com/radio I look forward to entertaining you soon. Jobby @ Hedfone...

Our Silent Disco at CarFest North

Our Silent Disco at CarFest North

by Jobby After the success of our Silent Disco at Chris Evans’ CarFest South, we were asked to do the same thing at the CarFest North event at Cholmondeley Castle in Cheshire. Such a beautiful area and a great place to host a festival! The weather was perfect too, with the mercury hitting around 25 degrees each day – which did make the big top tent into more of a big top oven. We provided 500 our our fantastic NEW coloured headphones (the colour variants at this festival were Red, Blue, Pink and Purple) along with two DJs – myself on Channel 1 and DJ Jake on Channel 2. We have a great repertoire with each other, I generally cover all of the newer music and Jake covers the older stuff. I recently invested in some new lighting, which had it’s first demonstration at CarFest. This included a spectacular new Laser Show, along with some amazing LED effects. You can see them in action in the pictures, below. I also decided to bring along my projector to do VJing – which is the same as DJing, but with music videos – which added an extra level of greatness to the overall event. We operated the  Silent Disco every night, with an extended ‘secret’ gig on Friday night for the campers. I also DJ’d through the loud speakers on Saturday / Sunday, and hosted a kiddies karaoke – which had a variation of singing types! (It also involved a kid called Georgie Shore, which is a very unfortunate name if you ask me.) I took a lot more photos at this event than at CarFest South, and I managed to keep the camera still too!!   This is our setup for CarFest North – looks spectacular at night! A selection of party people dancing in pure silence! The crowd goes wild, with some laser effects on show! This is our supersized Hedfone Party screen, showcasing music videos and visual effect. It looks fantastic 🙂 This is our amazing DJ setup in full action. PS: I have no idea who that girl is behind the decks, I chased her away once I got back, although it wasn’t easy! Another picture of the crowd loving their first Silent Disco! Here is to CarFest 2013!! Jobby @ Hedfone Party...

Silent Disco rocks CarFest South…

by Jobby What an amazing weekend we have had at Chris Evans’ CarFest South! The big top tent that the Silent Disco was in looked so cool, it reminded me of the Big Brother eye with all the variations of colours. We took 500 of our BRAND NEW Red and Purple coloured headphones, the first time they had been used at any event – fresh from the factory. We also supplied the disco lighting setup, along with DJ Jake and myself (DJ Jobby). We operated a ‘secret’ Silent Disco on Friday night for the campers. The tent was packed out! (This may have had something to do with the monsoon-like weather outside, but everyone had an amazing time anyway). We also appeared for a short slot on Saturday and Sunday evenings, and I offered my services as a normal disco DJ in the day time, doing karaoke for the kiddies (which was interesting). This was the very first CarFest EVER, and it was a great success. Loads of fast cars, slow cars, big cars and small cars. If you like cars – this festival was for you – hence the name. Check out some of our photos, below: This was the best picture that I took of DJ Jake – and it is still pretty poor! Jake takes better pictures than me, evidently.     Everyone having fun with Silent Disco madness! Another shot of people enjoying their Silent Disco night. We look forward to our next gig at CarFest North in a few weeks! Jobby @ Hedfone...

Our Silent Disco headphones enter the Big Brother house…

by Jobby For one strange reason or another, Big Brother has always fascinated me. From the very first series, when it was a ‘social experiment’, right through to when it became a show full of fame hungry wannabes (Series 3 onwards), it’s always a show that will get you thinking “how did they find these people?”. BB became stale on Channel 4, and I believe that Channel 5 have pumped some much-needed energy into the format, although “Autocue Brian” isn’t the best host for it. His presenting feels forced and unnatural. I am no stranger to appearing on Big Brother shows. As well as being in the audience several times for Big Brothers Little Brother when Dermot O’ Leary presented it, I took part in several of George Lambs shows too – competing in a series of challenges for the chance to become the ‘voice of Big Brother’, which I won – of course. That was an unforgettable experience, being able to talk to the housemates in the diary room and making announcements over the tannoy in the main house. An extremely poor quality clip is here: <iframe width=”560″ height=”315″ src=”http://www.youtube.com/embed/wO4UrZqo7iY” frameborder=”0″ allowfullscreen></iframe> Anyway, forgetting all that for a moment – and bringing things back to 2012. I had another run in with Big Brother. This time it was Channel 5 and this time they wanted something from me. Silent Disco headphones! I obviously couldn’t turn down another opportunity to demonstrate our headphones on the telly (already shown on MTV’s Geordie Shore). Now that Big Brother Series 13 has finished, all the housemates have instantly been forgotten – as well as our appearance. But to refresh your memory (if you were one of the 10 people that watched the show on Channel 5) – here are some screen grabs from the Big Brother Silent Disco:          If you are a producer of a TV show and would like to use our headphones, give me a call!
